LI_SHARK breakdown... No one expects Hansen to continue to grow at the past hyper numbers, so some slow down on EPS will happen. In 2004 EPS growth was 214%, so far the growth for 2005 looks like it will come in at about 215% or 2.71/share at PE of 40 the PPS would be 108.36, a PE of 35 PPS would be 94.82. Now in 2006 if the EPS growth drops to 125% from 215% the 2006 EPS would be about 6.10 with a PE of 40 the PPS would be about 243.81 and with a PE of 35 the PPS would be about 213.33. Going into 2007 the EPS growth could drop to 95% then 2007 EPS would be about 11.89 and with a PE of 40 the PPS would be 475.43 and with a PE of 35 the PPS could be 416.00. Moving ahead to 2008 the EPS growth could drop to 70% with a EPS of 20.21 and with a 40 PE the PPS could be 808.23 and with a 35PE the PPS could be 707.20. The sequential decrease in EPS earnings growth falls in a conserative view for the next few years. By 2009 EPS growth will be at about 50% and after that leveling off at from 30% to 25%. The above does not take into account any expansion over seas by Monster. If that happens the above numbers could be way to low. Just something to chew on waiting for Q405.

Small minority of public even know what an "energy drink" is. Consumer awareness will drive growth.
I have been in since Aug 2003. 9000 long. The volatility is tough to handle but i have been rewarded. cannot access this at work so I had to come home after reading all this b.s. and post. feel much better now. Patience will bring happiness.
Hansen just on CNBC by: LI_SHARK (66/M/NY) 01/28/05 02:04 pm Msg: 15914 of 15916 CNBC Power Lunch had a big splash on Hansen. They talked about Monster and how Hansen was an unknow company and it was a good way to play the energy sector, since you can not buy Red Bull. They said that Hansen was starting to take market share in the energy sector and the energy drink has high margin, plus Monster has the top market share in the 16oz energy drink sector. They showed the chart for one year and it showed price up $1.03 on the screen. They all liked it, except Jim Kramer did not know much about Hansen, and said he will look into it and get back on it. Great PR of Hansen.
10/26/04 - - - - - gull_islander - - - saw new discount club intros in CA as late as OCT’04: Talked to a friend around three weeks ago and he informed me that Sam's Club in Torrance, CA now stocks Monster Low Carb 24/case. He said the price was around $28/case. It's interesting to note that Costco sells the regular (error on my part on a previous post) and Sam's only sells the Low Carb. Must be a marketing strategy. I have also noticed at work that the Low Carb is now selling better than the regular and the employees are very loyal to Monster without question. Earnings are going to be great and I think 4th quarter is going to suprise everyone. Good luck to all.

10/25/04 - - - - LI_SHARK - - - found new (HANS) products reaching stores on the East Coast: Went to the Super Stop & Shop in East Meadow, LI,NY this morning and finally found Hansen soda on two shelves for the first time. Did not find any Monster. Spoke to info booth person to ask about Monster, she looked up in her screen and said they do not carry it as of now. She does not know if they will, even though they have Red Bull and Rock Star. I mentioned that Monster has a larger can (16 oz) for the same cost. Asked about case volumn of the soda, she said that it sells very well for a new product line, but case sales is right now only about a case a week. It is only in the "natural food" section, not in the soda section. I asked if some could be put in the "soda" section, she asked why I asked such a question. My reply was that my frends and I like it better than coke or any other soft drink, and think it will sell faster in the "soda section". I told her that Trader Joe's carry it right up front and can not keep enough of it stocked. She stated, "see what I can do". Will check back on my next shopping trip. But glad to see it in SS&S. Now just need it in Costco and BJ's here on the Island.`
10/24/04 - - - - john_galt_iv - - - found “Monster” showing up in New England towns ... college towns ... everywhere he travels on the East coast .... (this is a big change from this Summer when it was hard to come by): Just spent the weekend in New Hampshire. Spotted in two convenient stores in Wolfeboro. Asked clerk how they sold, he said they sold very well, about the same as red bull. Only a few cans of Low Carb and Monstor left at one store. The clerks at either store did not know exact case numbers. Also visited the Univ. of New Hampshire campus to test a theory that they are stocking products in College towns for the obvious reasons, and sure enough it seems to be holding. Went to a Hannafords grocery on campus and found them soldout of Monster and only one can left of Energade. I asked customer service how often they stock, he said they stock three days a week, and almost always sell out. This particular store also carried Blue Sky which if my memory serves me correctly, Hansen has a share in. It seems Monster is showing up everywhere I travel on the east coast, and is selling very well. I am still yet to hear a bad review from a store clerk. Sorry about the lack of case numbers, it is just hard to find clerks that are in the know.
10/22/04 - - - - - johnfcrawley - saw Have been seeing a lot of new signs in gas stations advertising Monster. This is new in our area but it seems there is a trend to get the name out.
10/22/04 - - - - - oren_altimus - made another cross country trip w/results very different from summer time .. There were a lot of states/stops/without it then ... Lancaster, PA ... to Reno, NV ... on I-80: Nice, Made a cross country trip. Monster is everywhere.
10/21/04 - - - - - atohmc - learned from a distributor employee in OC-Orange County, CA: I was posting in a Red Sox vs. Yankees forum, but my avatar was a can of Monster, so someone told me that he sells it. I asked him for details, and here is his response word for word: .........redbull seems to be dying out, as in old news. theres so many newer drinks comming out for people to try, i mean sure red bull has its base customers, but for people who like to try somthing new, you find them reaching for a monster. The look of the cans and the point of sale helps people choose monster. (i have a poster in my room with a monster hottie). i havnt gone to work in 2 months now, so i dont know exactly how its doing as it begins to get colder. but i could tell you from last july to this july sales have increased tremendously. At first the product would only sell 1 maybee a couple cans inbeteeen restocks, but now (end of summer while still working) the stores would be completly selling off the shelf, and id be putting in whole case's every 3 days - week. people also supriqsinly like the low carb kind (blue label). as soon as im back to work ill let you know how the sales are doing. but as far as i can say its still a new product, and still being exspanded into the market, all places have not picked up on it yet. ...............but as far as numbers are concerned, im not sure because im not a salesman and i mostly deal with the supermarkets in the area. the one store i mostly deal with is West point (military office) where we went from 1 case a week, to 3-4 cases a week in recent times. As far as i know every gas station in the area (orange conuty) stocks monster bev now, it takes extra long to get products approved for supermarkets, but im sure once its approved ill be stockig it all over the place. Another big store 'walmart' currently isnt stocking any of the monster from us.

She even was drinking some while I was there. I commented on how funny it was to see all of the different brands of energy drinks popping up every week. She said that her younger sister and friends have been trying all of the other brands but always go back to the Monster.

I live in the possibly saturated area in LA of Northridge. I spoke to the stocking manager of the Rinaldi/Tampa store today. 6 weeks ago he was selling 3 cases of reg and low carb Monster in total and now he is selling 4.5 cases in total of both products. 50% Increase! Equally as big of a picture is the fact he has added one additional shelf of energy drinks from 3 to 4. The whole market is still growing strong and the extra margins of profit is great incentive for stores to continue selling larger shelf space. (2 rows reg Monster and 1 row Low carb) .......... ...... The 50% Monster growth in a saturated area in So. 09/12/04 - - - - - gh_isoar - - - - saw “Monster” just arriving in New England/MA as late as SEP’04 but then taking off in sales: Scope: Am making some progress on my checks of local stores in central MA. No Hansens' products at first 6 convenience stores I tried, in Pepperell, Ayer, and Littleton. Finally found Monster at a Citgo in Littleton on Route 2A, a couple miles west of interstate 495. Four flavors in stock, one row of 12 of each: Regular, Lo-Carb, Hansen's Energy, and Lost Energy. (Had not tried Lost before - loved it!) ................. Notes from conversation with the (20-something) store manager: - She took a case of each for the first time in early July at suggestion of distributor - It immediately sold better than other Energy drinks - customers apparently recognized it - Continues to out-sell other energy drinks; she has been able to price it at 2.25 without hearing any complaints - This summer has been very rainy here, but whenever the sun is out, the energy drinks sell - Currently moving about 50 cans (total across all four products) per month - her distributor didn't offer any marketing posters or whatnot, or she'd have one up (but my question appeared to get her thinking)- hasn't tried it herself, sticks to water because her job "just doesn't require much energy" (next time I'm in I'll offer her a taste) ............... From the product selection I see on their shelves, most local convenience stores use the same distributor... so now I know Monster is in the truck. It should just be a matter of asking the stores to stock it, and showing them my empties so they know I'm serious. The Ayer store (mentioned in earlier post: just off a bike railtrail, on Main Street in Ayer) has already promised to get some this week. - GH

It makes you less vulnerable to take over attempts by outsiders because it gives management voting shares that go into the Treasury & soaks up liquidity ... I think that since the "Monster" story is so big & the horizon for expansion is so great that we'll see (HANS) continue to buy shares & protect the nest ... They are too smart to let this get away from them ... That is why they are also major owners ....

The sequential decrease in EPS earnings growth falls in a conserative view for the next few years. By 2009 EPS growth will be at about 50% and after that leveling off at from 30% to 25%. The above does not take into account any expansion over seas by Monster. If that happens the above numbers could be way to low.

marketing and perception of "in" drink dominates over taste
16 oz is highest grwoth segment
Hansens holding its own compared to Red Bull.

CNBC Power Lunch had a big splash on Hansen.
10/26/04 - - - - - gull_islander - - - saw new discount club intros in CA as late as OCT’04:
Talked to a friend around three weeks ago and he informed me that Sam's Club in Torrance, CA now stocks Monster Low Carb 24/case.

Hope Monster becomes more available in NYC.
When traveling in NYC can not find any Monster being sold. Think the city would be great for sales. Would be a big hit in the Village and SOHO.

10/25/04 - - - - LI_SHARK - - - found new (HANS) products reaching stores on the East Coast:
Went to the Super Stop & Shop in East Meadow, LI,NY this morning and finally found Hansen soda on two shelves for the first time.
(this is a big change from this Summer when it was hard to come by):
Just spent the weekend in New Hampshire.

Have been seeing a lot of new signs in gas stations advertising Monster. This is new in our area but it seems there is a trend to get the name out.

10/21/04 - - - - - atohmc - learned from a distributor employee in OC-Orange County, CA:
I was posting in a Red Sox vs.

The Trader Joes in Granada Hills told me all the staff is hooked on Monster. They sell 4 cases of Reg and 2 cases of low carb Monday through Friday. They have a display next to one of the check outs. .... stopped at a BP convenience store and talked with the clerk/manager for about 20 minutes regarding the products. I explained to her that I had invested in the company on and off and was looking for information on sales. She told me they 2 cases of lo-carb and 1 case of regular per week. She even was drinking some while I was there. I commented on how funny it was to see all of the different brands of energy drinks popping up every week. She said that her younger sister and friends have been trying all of the other brands but always go back to the Monster.

......It is of great value to keep track of the store checks. I am now ready to add to the info. records that scope is keeping. California is great news and the 33% growth in all energy drinks is great news for a 6 week period. Let us keep the news/reports coming in as objective as posible to detect a leveling out period. (hopefully later than sooner) ....
09/12/04 - - - - - gh_isoar - - - - saw “Monster” just arriving in New England/MA as late as SEP’04 but then taking off in sales:
Scope:
Am making some progress on my checks of local stores in central MA.
Notes from conversation with the (20-something) store manager:
- She took a case of each for the first time in early July at suggestion of distributor
- It immediately sold better than other Energy drinks - customers apparently recognized it
- Continues to out-sell other energy drinks; she has been able to price it at 2.25 without hearing any complaints
- This summer has been very rainy here, but whenever the sun is out, the energy drinks sell
- Currently moving about 50 cans (total across all four products) per month
- her distributor didn't offer any marketing posters or whatnot, or she'd have one up (but my question appeared to get her thinking)- hasn't tried it herself, sticks to water because her job "just doesn't require much energy" (next time I'm in I'll offer her a taste) ...............

- they will have to authorize more shares ...
- In the Fall that was in the pipeline but they opted to put of authorizing more shares & instead do a share buy back ...
- We will be flush w/cash again by Summer/Fall ... it is entirely possible that there'll be another share buy back instead ...
- I was the first to suggest in the Fall that there might be a share buy back & sure enough we did ...
- When a company is internally financing its expansion & there is still a wad of cash leftover it is wise to do a share buy back ...
